What Businesses Are Considered Essential & Can Still Operate in Florida?
April 3, 2020
On April 1, 2020, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a Safer at Home Order that requires residents to stay home from work unless their job is considered an essential service starting today, April 3rd.
Here are just a few examples of the types of businesses that are considered essential services:
Workers such as plumbers, electricians, exterminators, builders, contractors, HVAC Technicians, landscapers, and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences, businesses and buildings.
Grocery stores, pharmacies, and restaurants (take-out and delivery only)
Auto repair shops
Hardware and building material stores
Workers who ensure the effective removal, storage, and disposal of residential and commercial solid waste and hazardous waste, including landfill operations.
Workers to ensure continuity of building functions, including but not limited to security and environmental controls (e.g., HVAC), the manufacturing and distribution of the products required for these functions, and the permits and inspections for construction supporting essential infrastructure.
At this time, we are not aware of anything that requires essential workers to carry paperwork or other authorization with them when traveling to/from and for work.
Be safe, stay healthy and we will get through this together.
